Intermittent Fasting and Cycling

Have you heard about intermittent fasting and cycling? I’ve just recently started researching this after a trusted friend recommended it. Well…I quickly downloaded Dr. Mindy Pelz’s books from Amazon onto my Kindle and realized I was getting overwhelmed quickly, but I found a solution! I saw an Audible program by Dr. Pelz that I purchased on Amazon. It’s called The Fast-Feast Cycle: The Power of Metabolic Switching. (Click on the title to see it on Amazon)

Fast Feast Cycle

Listening to Dr. Pelz give this lecture on Audible is a game-changer for me! She provides an A-Z explanation of how intermittent fasting and cycling work. I have all her main books, and especially using the Kindle, I found I was doing a lot of back-and-forth in her books. Listening to The Fast Feast Cycle was well laid out, so I understood her research, and it’s starting to click.

I’ve been intermittent fasting and ketobiotic eating this past week. Now that I’ve understood how this all flows, it’s completely making sense to me. As a nurse, I believe she has cracked a code on the hormone/cortisol/stress/food craving/insulin resistance/overweight issues.

Cortisol Spikes

From personal experience, when I retired and got away from all the stress (and constant cortisol stress hormone spikes), I lost 30 pounds without trying. I have stayed at that weight for several months now. I’ve lost seven pounds this week just from my changes.

Dr. Pelz teaches keto biotic eating, which is very different from regular keto teaching. Her teaching focuses on healing the gut, and avoiding toxins is key. I remember when I tried a keto lifestyle a few years ago; as long as the macros were met, all was good. She teaches using organic and fermented foods as toxins from chemicals and pesticides disrupt our hormones and gut health. When our gut health (microbiome) is messed up, it causes health issues and is part of the insulin resistance problem.

Final Thoughts

I’m not going to go into deep detail about all this. It’s Dr. Pelz’s process, not mine, to discuss in great detail. I am also not suggesting this is the end-all-be-all for everyone. I believe everyone’s health journey is individual. However, I would LOVE it if you are intrigued about learning more, to purchase her Audible course and decide if her program makes sense to you and you want to try. I would also suggest that if her intermittent fasting and cycling approach resonates with you, you purchase actual books and not upload them on Kindle. You will want to highlight parts of her books to be able to find charts and her key points easily.
